When you build a house, you begin by designing the plan. When you set up an off-line business, your accountant and/or bank will ask to see your business plan. When you embark on an online business, you should do the same. Not doing this is probably the single largest cause of Internet businesses failing.
There are a number of viable online business models. It's important to choose one that seems to make sense to you, then stick to it. Don't be distracted by the latest new promotion or e-mail. Break the blueprint into a number of smaller steps, and begin working on those. Define the skills you need for each step. As you come to that step, either acquire the skills you need, or find someone to do the work for you. And work on your online business as you would in a bricks and mortar job.
